Computer-History: The Origin of Clones In Vintage PC Hardware History
Computer History: The Origin of "Clones" In Vintage PC Hardware History The history of microcomputers does not compare with the history of ancient Mesopotamia (Iraq). Microcomputers (now commonly held as PCs) have been around for only 25 - 30 years. It is good to have some knowledge of this history both to give some perspective of where we are today and to know where a number of our basic computer standards that we take for granted - as if they came from heaven, originated. The very first microcomputer machines were as exciting as a do-it yourself set - a thrill if you were the type who forever liked to tinker with things to make them work. . Early personal computers (or micococomputers as they were first called lacked a clear standard. The computer chip makers - Intel, Motorola and Zilog - all competed in the microprocessor (CPU) in a rash of different computers from different manufactures. None were compatible with any others. IBM's introduction of the real IBM PC in August 1981 opened the eyes of many. IBM had scores of sales representatives with credibility who were well entrenched in corporations and businesses around the world. The IBM sales staff - used to selling big ticker items and invoicing hundreds of thousands of dollars - well dressed in "IBM Blue " three piece suits , were well accustomed to corporate life and power structures with the "movers and shakers" who counted . IBM opened their own stores selling all IBM hardware as well as their own brand of software. The software had been written by third parties and adapted for the PC- DOS (IBM's proprietary version of the Microsoft Operating System DOS sold under license). IBM insisted that all the software be packaged in the very same standard plain white boxes with identical blue labeling. A number of companies began to produce machines that used the MS-DOS (Microsoft DOS) operating system .In the beginning, they were similar to PC-DOS machines, but were not fully compatible - software for PC-OS would seldom run on an MS-DOS machine and vice -versa. Somewhere along the way however the 2 merged so that in the end there was little distinction between the two operating systems - IBM PC-DOS and Microsoft MS-DOS. Hence both the IBM compatible computes (clones) and genuine IBM computers would both run the same software properly. BM kept the pressure on with its next system release, the 6 MHz PC/AT, the first machine to use Intel's next generation chip the 80286 CPU. . However, these first generation ATs were plagued by frequent hard disk failures. Without any warning, a user's disk would fail and important and essential data would be lost. The problem was so widespread that IBM clones manufacturers started to erode IBM's market dominance. This went on as the clone competition continually improved their products. As well PC clones were substantially cheaper than IBM's machines, with larger hard disks (from 40 megabytes to even the unbelievable 100). Greater memory became standard, and options such as built in serial and parallel ports were added to system boards. As well clones often included displays, display adapters and software in attractively priced bundles. The PC/AT continued to sell well, but IBM's market share began to erode, even though it was selling more machines than ever before. Other clone manufacturers (Compaq and Advanced Logic Research for example) moved quickly on Intel's next big microprocessor introductions. The die was set. The IBM PC set the standards but the clone manufacturers forever dominated the market which IBM had developed and lost. Wireless Computing Systems - The Future Is Here Already?
Wireless Computer Systems - Wireless systems and wireless computer systems have increasingly become the inseparable ingredients of our lives in the last century because of their instant installation capabilities in addition to obviously cutting mammoth amounts of capital and time that was otherwise being wasted in erection and installation & commissioning. But how big and expanded is the wireless systems industry? And how much they touch our lives? And if I am not stretching things too far, are we being controlled by wireless systems? Well, let's take a critical look at these issues which concerns us all. Wireless Systems and Communication Ever since Graham Bell and Marconi invented telephone and radio respectively, life has never been the same. Although they didn't revolutionalized things instantaneously they sure caused a ruffle thus signaling what was on the way. Today, without wireless systems communications would grind to a halt. Satellites become dud flying objects of little use if we don't 'connect' through wireless for billions of gigabytes of data transfer every hour. Consumer Wireless Equipments At the bottom, we have wireless toys which are the rage with children. But the most common wireless system everyone is familiar is cell phone without which most of us can conduct our lives the way we need to. Cell phones have rapidly expanded to exit the wired phones in a matter of a few years. Even the basic phones are going wireless with the advent of CDMA technology. The 3G cell phones can transmit up to 2MBPS of data. Mobile phones reached their zenith of glory when Motorola introduced satellite phones (Irridium) which didn't even require wireless network but worked with satellites directly. Connectivity is just notional; look at what broadband has done to wireless systems. Internet no more needs 'wired connectivity' as there is wireless broadband service. IPOD has made world collapse into our pockets. What we imagined till the other year, that wireless systems made useful wireless microphones, was turned upside down by one small pocket gadget called IPOD. Wireless Gadgets If we are able to watch news cruising at 50,000' at great speeds, you could imagine what 'the void' (wireless) can do. Let's take a look at some cute gadgets from the current rage. 1. Push to talk phones: Talk, browse internet, watch TV and connect to all your friends by one button push. 2. Pocket PC and wireless LAN for laptops: Pocket PCs double up as cell phones. Laptops connect to LAN with a wireless LAN card. 3. Toys, game controls etc. 4. Home theater, music systems, network booster and headphones etc. Long ago, when gods communicated, they were not verbal! They communicated silently. Just where are we heading? How to Pass the Microsoft MCSE 2003 Certification
How to Pass the Microsoft MCSE 2003 Certification When I started down the certification path towards my MCSE 2003, I really didnt know where to start. Of course, as a helpdesk support person for 2 years I knew that being MCSE 2003 Certified would increase my chances of being promoted to a systems administration job or securing a new, higher paid role with another company. So I first went to Microsoft's MCSE Certification website to find out which exams I needed to pass. Sure, I wanted to pass these MCSE 2003 exams, but I didnt want to cheat using braindumps which are not only illegal, but I think defeat the whole purpose of being MCSE 2003 Certified in the first place. What I wanted was the pass my MCSE 2003 exams, but actually UNDERSTAND and LEARN the material, so that way, I could hold my head up high, knowing that my skills would match my MCSE 2003 status. Once I knew which exams I had to pass, I went out and searched the web for more information about each exam. I bought the core set of MCSE 2003 Microsoft Press books from Amazon, but in all honesty, they werent a lot of help. I also bought a few exam preparation software packages, which did help somewhat, but only for last minute revisions...as study and learning material they were grossly ineffective. It took me a while to find the right information, but finally I came across the CBT Video site, Winstructor.Com. Actually I cant take all of the credit for it, one of our systems administrators recommended them. So I signed up to Winstructor for 12 months and downloaded their MCSE 2003 Training Videos. Now this is what I had been missing. As far as training goes, I am a convert to CBT, or Computer Based Training. The thing I liked about these videos was that I could watch them over and over until I fully understood what is being taught. During the time that I was watching these videos, I did have a couple of questions relating to different exams. Not only did Winstructor support take the time to answer my questions, which they didnt have to do, but they also gave me the ultimate piece of advice. "When studying for your MCSE 2003, pick one exam, concentrate on it and forget the others exist. Once you've passed it, only then move onto the next" Whilst this sounds quite obvious, there I was, wasting my time reviewing subjects that were'nt being tested. Only once it was mentioned to me, did I realize what I was doing and focused on the immediate goal of the exam I was trying to pass. So if you want to pass your MCSE 2003 like I did, here is what I recommend. 1. Visit Microsoft.Com and create a list of the exams that you need to study for and pass. 2. Sign up to Winstructor.Com for 12 Months and download their videos. 3. Pick 1 exam, only 1, and concentrate on it. Dont be tempted to look at the others. 4. When you watch the Winstructor Videos, have 2 computers or a copy of Microsoft Virutal PC handy and Lab out what you're learning. You'll be so surprised at how much more you'll retain and understand about what you're learning. 5. If you do fail an exam, get over it, move on. Its not the end of the world. No-one but you will know, so study the areas where you went wrong and you'll be fine the next time around. I found that the areas I did poorly on are now some of my best subjects since I took the time to really learn them and that learning sticks in your memory. 6. Enjoy learning and studying for your MCSE 2003. If you dont like learning about IT, then maybe you're in the wrong job. Best of luck in your exams. Computer Printers - Cut Your Costs
Computer Printers - Cut Your Costs When you buy a new computer it almost always comes with a free printer. The free printer is almost always an inkjet model. The printer manufacturer gives these to the computer manufacturer for a knock down price as a loss leader. What most people never consider is the cost of replacing the inkjet cartridges in a few weeks time, and on a monthly basis after that. The actual laser printer has now fallen to a price where it is comparable to an inkjet printer, even for home use. Many families have 2 printers, an inkjet, for color work, and a laser as the default printer. Even if you have to pay for a laser printer its running costs will work out a lot less than the free inkjet. Once people take the cost of ink into account a monotone laser printer is only about a third the annual costs of an inkjet. The best thing you can do is to set up your laser printer and the free inkjet. Make sure the laser machine is set as the default printer. Unplug the inkjet to prevent it being used unnecessarily. What about refilling the inkjet cartridges? Forget it, the quality of the refilled is just unacceptable. Remanufactured laser cartridges are worth considering, especially for every day and internal use like as an Internet printer. Laser toner cartridges are highly engineered for precision use. Yet many people just throw them away, rather than sending them away for re-use. Re-use is always less costly to our environment than recycling. Re-use involves replacing worn parts and refilling the cartridge with toner powder. Recycling involves, breaking up the cartridge and melting the various plastics down separately. There are many companies offering this service and once you find one that provides quality remanufactured cartridges for your model of printer, you would be well advised to stick with that company. You can always find cheap, allegedly remanufactured laser cartridges, but these are just refilled and often have none of the worn components replaced. Insist on a "money back if not satisfied" guarantee. Posted by Wanda Cortez. Wanda has her own Internet business and makes her living by writing at home. Find more of her articles here. Take Care Of You Laptop Battery Or Else...
Take Care Of You Laptop Battery Or Else... Laptops are common now; most people have them to take to school or when they travel for work. They're useful and easy to move with. What is also common is to see someone scrambling to find a place to charge a laptop battery. That report due tomorrow may suddenly be lost if you don't find an outlet within thirty seconds... Or that slideshow you have created (but carelessly forgot to save) may disappear if your laptop battery is not recharged. As common as laptops are now, it is just as common to see individuals forgetting that the machine needs a little bit of help to run. It does not magically power itself; the battery does not somehow manage to stay full as you work for hours at a time. Yet, many seem to think that their battery does just that. No matter how long they stay hunched over the machine, it will work. A few times of having the laptop die will cure that fantasy. The truth is: you must keep your laptop charged. Yes, one of the advantages of having a laptop is that you can take it anywhere; it does not require you to remain plugged into the wall. That still does not mean that you can expect the laptop to run with a low battery. Yes, you can walk around with it; yes, you can wander away from your plug. You still should return, however, when your computer tells you it's low. And they do tell you. Laptops feature a symbol at the top of the screen that allows you to see just how much your battery is charged. The lower it drops, the less time you have. This is basic. Anyone will even a small trace of knowledge should know and understand this. Yet, too many people risk losing everything to squeeze out an extra minute on their battery. These are the same people who try to frantically finish a report as opposed to saving and heading to their charger, only to lose the majority of it when the computer quits. And these are the same people who swear they will never do it again, but forget that promise the next time around. Laptop batteries have short ives. They can fail as quickly as thirty minutes. Some last longer, of course, but the result is still the same: if you are not careful and don't pay attention, the battery will die. Of course, laptops offer warnings when a battery is low. Often, a small screen will pop up to remind you that the time is almost there. Still, thinking you can simply ignore that screen since you're busy is not the wisest of moves. This are basic ideas, and you may be rolling your eyes, wondering who would be so foolish. But it does happen, all-too-often it happens. Because of this, you must make an effort to remember that, as convenient as your laptop is, it is still a machine and therefore needs care. Check your laptop battery and keep it charged. Richard Cussons is a prolific and diverse writer. You will find out more about your laptop battery at the laptop batteries website. Deer Antler Plus

Before you perform software removal on your system, its always best to backup your hard drive or at least all files you consider critical. To quickly relieve your computer of a very slow bootup process is to remove all those programs that run during startup that you most likely never use in the first place. One way to slim down the programs that run during startup is by using such third party utilities such as Winpatrol at http://www.winpatrol.com. This utilty will show which program is running in Windows amd in Enternet Explorer. Another way tois to go online and visit PC PitStop which have some awesome scan, registry, and other utilties. Some of these utilities are trial versions of third party software But most utilties on this visit is free and should be a great help when it comes to improving performance. To start this utility, click on Start,Run and type in the name "msconfig" in the open field. After clicking OKAY, the utility will launch. To prevent a prgram from starting up,you clear the check box next to it,click OK,and you will have to reboot for the change to takd effect. Windows has services that may be running at startup which will cause slow bootup time. You can save both time and memory by stopping these services if you don't need them. To open the services console, right click My Computer, and select Manage. When the management console opens,in the left pane double click Services And Applications. You can also click the plus sign next to it.This will expand the item and show the services. Choosing The Best Photo Printer
Nicocure Quit Smoking - THE EASY WAY! Choosing The Best Photo Printer Most of the printers could easily be purchased under $500. While all of them have similar features, it is better to be aware of certain key features that determines their price and print quality. First to look out for is the printing width. It differs among printers. Normally they are available with a width of either 8.5 inches or 13 inches. A 6 color printer is adequate but if you want good black and white images as well it is better to go for 8-color printer. Many of the best photo printers today have the ability to print directly from your camera or flash memory card through a simple device. You must also look for the printing speed per minute. Generally it takes up to 10 minutes for one color photo so you must factor it in when choosing the model. When you want to buy multi use printers, please note that for good quality photo printing you need to buy a dedicated printer or a digital photo printer that accepts the most popular memory cards. Now let us see the top 5 best photo printers and some of their features: Epson Stylus Pro 4000 can take in paper wider than 11 inches thus making it very convenient. The high quality color and grayscale printing and the ability to make use of rolls of paper instead of sheets make it very economical too. Canon Pixma IP8500 Photo Printer is another best photo printer in our top 5 list. It scores very high on speed, color and print quality. Almost all users love the 8 color cartridges. One disadvantage is the absence of media card slot - simply unacceptable in a high-end printer. The built in duplexer and good text printing however makes up for this disadvantage as it could be used for general and business use as well. Canon Slephy DS700 is the best photo printer in the portable category. It plugs in directly into your TV so you could examine your photos in detail before printing them without having to transfer them to a PC. The ever popular Epson Picture Mate is another best seller in its newest version - The Epson Picture Mate Deluxe. Though it has many added features and higher speeds, it no longer seem to have the cost-effectiveness per print of the older model. Another best photo printer worth considering is the Sony PictureStation DPP-FP30. the installation is simple and the quality is simply Sony standards. However a small problem is the high running costs. So have fun with the best photo printer that you have selected and may your photo memories come alive as good photo prints too! Photo Printers HQ helping you to get the best from your photo printer. Enlast -

Registry Mechanic: It's Time To Get Your Computer A Tune-Up
Including: Norton AntiVirus, Personal Firewall, AntiSpam, and Parental Control...
Registry Mechanic: As the computer age continues to evolve at break-neck speed, it is becoming more and more easy for people to view their pc as a valuable tool in the home. Much like a vehicle it takes you places that you need and want to go and it is becoming more practically useful as you can shop, pay bills, and make important communications. It is also easier for people to understand that a computer needs maintenance too. So just like as you would take a car to an auto mechanic to service your car periodically you should get the analogous "registry mechanic" to service your pc. The word registry in registry mechanic may have thrown you but it isn't that complicated. You could think of the registry as the oil pan of the computer and just as you need clean oil for good lubrication in a vehicle you need a clean registry for smooth operation of your computer. If you have had a computer for any length of time you know that it will slow down over time, and you will start to notice that your computer will freeze and do spontaneous shutdowns that become a major hassle. These problems are almost always at least in part due to a cluttered and overloaded registry. You see the registry is the part of the computer that contains all of the different settings on the computer. As you use it there will be more and more settings saved into it many of which are based on temporary internet files that you accumulate as you surf the net. These are for the most part unnecessary but the computer still worries about them each it is called upon to do a task. The more the computer has to worry about them slower it is going to be. What the registry mechanic does is go through and determine what is and is not necessary for the computer to run optimally and keeps the good and disposes of the bad. Of course you can do this manually to but unless you are an expert this is strongly discouraged, as you can make irreversible changes to vital code that has the potential to make your computer inoperable. The other benefit to this software is that just like anything computerized and/or automated it is so much faster and more precise than even the human experts that designed it. So before you spend your money on a new computer because you are fed up with the faulty operation, or go out and buy more memory because you think that will speed things up, go to your nearest computer retailer and pick up a registry mechanic software package. If you have questions on anything just ask an employee they generally have a good idea of the latest computing news. Having worked for Microsoft as a manager in customer support for years it was a natural for Dylon Floppours to start his own consulting firm for commercial tech support. IT Consulting: Skills for Sweet Spot Customers

Guidelines for Inkjet Cartridge refill
Blogging to the Bank ! Guidelines for Inkjet Cartridge refill
by Isabella Rodrigues
There are number of instructions to be followed at the time of refilling an inkjet cartridge. So whenever your printer ink runs dry you need to follow the below steps for inkjet cartridge refill. 1. It's very important that you handle the cartridge carefully. Avoid touching any metallic parts. 2. Always clean needles and syringe to avoid any color mixing. 3. It would always be advisable to store the cartridge in an airtight bag with a moist paper towel when not in use. 4. Refill the cartridge only when the warning light glows. 5. If you are re-filling black cartridge, then enlarge the fill hole on top of the cap with the drill provided. 6. If you are re-filing color cartridge, then you have to remove the cap first. Either hold the cap in a safe manner or carefully remove the cap with the help of a knife. 7. Put together needle and syringe and fill in the color that you want your cartridge to refill with. 8. Insert the needle into the correct fill hole straight down till the foam. If you are filling with the color ink then make sure you are inserting in the correct ink slot. 9. When you start injecting the ink into the slot, make sure that you are doing it slowly and you may have to clean the print head with a tissue. 10. When the color cartridge is completely full, ink could be seen at the fill hole, slightly remove the syringe till the ink on the fill hole vanishes. 11. The capacity of the black cartridge is about 20ml, so make sure that you don't over-fill it. 12. So you have now successfully filled the cartridge. 13. After the process of refilling is complete, re-cap the cartridge. To ensure safety, stick a tape on the top of the lid. 14. Clean the print head with a tissue or a sponge till the time it stops dripping. 15. Its time to install the cartridge back into the printer and run a cleaning cycle. 16. You should always clean the syringe and the needle that you have used with water so that it can be used again. Anti Spam guide 101
Anti Spam guide 101 One thing that has plagued more or less all the Internet users is Spam. Thus, the biggest ask of todays Internet age is Anti Spam tools. As the usage of internet is multiplying day after day, e-mail has become the most powerful and desirable means of communication. But some people are trying to annihilate its great reputation by introducing the spam into it. Spam is nothing but unsolicited, unwanted, irrelevant or inappropriate e-mail. They are also known as junk mails. Spam mails are basically aimed at wasting the time and as a result, money of the individuals who are at the receiving end. Many people get annoyed when they see their inboxes full of junk mails, which are hidden between the legitimate ones. This situation may lead to chaos as these people may inadvertently delete the legitimate e-mails while deleting the spam. Also, the spam mails can cause unnecessary burden over the servers by uploading lots of redundant data over them. Moreover, they may even contain viruses, spyware and trojans which can damage the whole system of the receiver. Hence, people who are acquainted with these ill effects of the spam mails are on the constant look out for better and more advanced Anti Spam solutions to get rid of this menace. Therefore big software companies are continuously trying to develop Anti Spam solutions, spam blockers and e-mail spam filters. Anti Spam solutions are basically designed to check the sender's name and address and filter the spam e-mails according to a black list of spammers they own. They may also check the recipients' names and addresses and filter the spam mails according to certain parameters decided by them. Some Anti Spam solutions also use content filtering or Bayesian Logic. They can scan the e-mails and search for certain words or phrases which are common in most spam mails like 'viagra' or 'click here' and filter the spam e-mails accordingly. Blogging to the Bank ! However, these Anti Spam solutions are not infallible. If the software companies are trying to develop more and more advanced ways to block and filter spam, the spammers are also not sitting idle. They are also constantly inventing new ways to hoodwink these Anti Spam programs and cause havoc in the world of internet. Moreover, most of these Anti Spam solutions are not reliable as they may delete some very necessary e-mail taking them as spam. This might happen if a legitimate sender makes use of some of the terms which favorites among the spammers or use an IP address that has been used by spammers in the past. Thus, a reliable Anti Spam solution is one, which minimizes these false positives by adopting a comprehensive anti spam approach by examining both the message content as well as the history of the sender. Moreover, an effective anti spam software is one, which learns the user preferences by analyzing his behavior towards some particular messages. For instance, most of us may delete the messages containing the word 'viagra' but some medical organizations may not do so. Thus, while no Anti Spam software is perfect, still we should use them to reduce the risk of getting plagued by the menace of spam mails. How Platespin Server Consolidation Works
Blogging to the Bank ! How Platespin Server Consolidation Works It is no secret that servers can take up a lot of floor space, and power. As a result, they can sometimes seem inconvenient. One way to save space and power is to consolidate servers. Server consolidation is very important in order to ease some of the frustrations of overdue consolidation processes. Server consolidation projects can also be accelerated via automation and virtualization. Platespin server consolidation helps to accelerate consolidation projects, and reduce errors. This is done without actually having to have contact with the physical machines. Platespin allows managers to measure and evaluate resource utilization in order to speed up capacity planning for consolidation projects. This is accomplished by remotely gathering information about the server. This information can be the server operating system, memory, CPU speed, the network, and memory. Platespin server consolidation works on Windows NT, 2000, and 2003 systems. The system works without the help of agents. Therefore, the need to manually deploy software is eliminated. The risk of missing certain agent dependencies is also eliminated in this case. Platespin is also very simple and lightweight, so it can start to collect data in almost one minute. Platespin completely automates the physical to virtual migration of data. This allows the servers to be consolidated quickly and with more ease. There is a drag and drop interface that allows the user to convert machines running Windows or Linux into one fully functional virtual machine that is hosted on several types of servers. These servers include VMware GSX Server, Microsoft Virtual Server 2005, or simply a Platespin Flexible Image file. Network configurations, CPU cycles disk space, and memory allocations can all be converted rather quickly. This ease allows users to right-size target servers as the conversion process is occurring. As a direct result, data centers are made able to increase the number of servers that are able to be consolidated. This further optimizes resource utilization rates. Sever consolidation may seem complicated, but the right program can make it quite simple. Platespin automates many processes and allows many different factors to be converted quickly. This means that the total time for consolidating servers is reduced. Nicocure Quit Smoking THE EASY WAY! Stop Smoking with Nicocure in 30 Days or less...!

Save hundreds on your next Dell purchase - Amazing secrets revealed
Save hundreds on your next Dell purchase - Amazing secrets revealed Getting ready to buy a Dell computer? Before you do so, you had better read the following tips, because they can save you big on your next computer purchase. Before you get started, I would like to give you some background on Dell and their marketing/pricing strategy. Dell Computers is the largest manufacturer and retailer of computers in the world. They have about a 15% market share of all computers sold in America. Because Dell only builds a computer when it is sold, it enables Dell to keep very low inventories, and therefore, a very low price. Moreover, you can only buy a Dell at Dell. They have no retail presence. No middlemen! Dell utilizes many channels of advertising to get the word out about their low prices. You have probably seen their ads on TV or their full page print ads in the newspaper. You may have even received a Dell catalog if you have purchased from them before. What you probably haven't noticed is that the price of these seemingly equivalent systems vary greatly depending on where you saw the ad. This is the very first lesson on being "Dell smart." Dell is NOT transparent in their system pricing. This means, depending on where you learned about the computer deal can greatly impact the price you pay. Okay, so if Dell does not consistently price computer system ads, where should you go to get the best deal? That's simple -- the Internet. And by Internet, I do not mean going straight to Dell.com! To become "Dell smart," you need to choose a Dell computer that is right for you, one that suits your needs. Computer shoppers often overspend on options they will never use. Go to your favorite search engine and look for a buying guide. After you narrow your search, go back to your search engine (I use Google) and enter "model name + review." Read a few independent reviews about the model you've selected and find out what other people are saying. What are the system's pros and cons? Now that you know what you are looking for, let the real money saving begin! Go back to your favorite search engine and enter the words "Dell Coupon Codes." What you should get in return is a list of Dell affiliate web sites that supply FREE coupons from Dell. These coupons are not advertised, as Dell tries to keep these for the savviest shoppers. More often than not, Dell has a $750 off coupon that can be applied at checkout allowing you to save big! Sometimes, these coupons can even be stacked, meaning you can apply more than one coupon towards your purchase, or they can be used in combination with rebates or other instant savings. Check several coupon sites until you find a coupon that works for your model. Make sure you read the fine print, and verify that the coupon is not expired. Some coupon sites give step-by-step instructions on applying coupons so make sure to do your research! Once you have found the relevant coupons for the system you want to buy, you are ready to go to Dell to make your purchase. Purchasing a computer from Dell requires that you go through several pages of options and add-ons. This is where buyers typically get bogged down as they are overwhelmed by a number of options and upgrades. Be sure to use the buying guides you came across to identify which features and upgrades are right for you. And be aware that you can often down-grade from many of the default Dell options. For example, Windows Media Center and Windows XP Pro are practically the same operating system. However, Dell sometimes defaults to XP Pro in their options which costs significantly more than Media Center. So, downgrade whenever it makes sense for you and your needs. Once you have gone through the pages of options, you will be at checkout. This is where you will apply your coupons, select the cheapest shipping and pay tax. If you followed these steps, you should be saving hundreds of dollars for the computing system that exactly meets your needs. Let's recap:
Research the right model for YOUR needs. Use a buying guide. Search for a review of the model you selected on a search engine. Use "model name" + "review" Go back to your favorite search engine and enter "dell coupon codes." Find a good coupon site with current coupons and good instructions. Go to Dell, select your model, and DOWNGRADE unnecessary options and add-ons. Apply your coupon at checkout (stack whenever possible)! Use the lowest priced shipping. Pat yourself on the back, because you have now saved BIG! Looking for Dell Coupons and Dell Coupon Codes? Visit Cheapstingybargains.com.

The Key To Computer Security - Anti Virus Software
Including: Norton AntiVirus, Personal Firewall, AntiSpam, and Parental Control...
The Key To Computer Security - Anti Virus Software In the computer world today it is important to remember that at every second your computer is at risk of being contaminated with an ugly virus. There are many ways your computer may become infected from e-mail viruses to Trojans. These infections can cause damage to your hard drive, attach themselves to your programs, or can even spread to other peoples computers from your e-mail. It is essential to protect your computer from these invasions by using a good anti-virus software program. There are many different types of infections that can invade your computer some of which include viruses, worms, e-mail viruses, and Trojans. A virus can be transmitted from computer to computer by attaching itself to another program. When the program is running the virus is able to infect other programs or documents. Worms are a computer program that copies itself from computer to computer through the use of computer networks. They are often used to invade security holes in software programs. The latest computer invaders are e-mail viruses. An e-mail virus moves around in your e-mail messages and duplicates as it automatically sends itself to people in your address book, which in turn infects their computers in the same way. A Trojan horse invades your computer by pretending to be a program it's not. When you open the program, the Trojan wreaks havoc on your computer that can cause irreversible damage. In order to protect yourself from such invasion it is very important to make sure your computer is safe. One thing you can do is to run a more secure operating system like UNIX that can protect your computer from traditional viruses. Another option is to buy virus protection software if you are using an unsecured computer. Avoiding programs from unknown sources, disabling floppy disk booting, and making sure that Macro virus protection is enabled, are also things that can further protect you from invasion. The best option for protecting your computer though, is to invest in an anti-virus program. There are many anti-virus programs like Norton antivirus, McAfee, and PcCillin, and some are even free like Avast and AVG. Anti virus programs work by keeping patterns of virus infected files and compares them to the files stored on your computer. If it finds any viruses you are immediately prompted to delete the contaminated file. Make sure to up-date your anti virus software consistently, which can be done through the Internet and most up-dates are free of cost. If you are going to use the computer it is always best to protect yourself and your precious memories from all the dangerous computer infections. When you invest in a good computer and store your information on it, you are setting yourself up for a potential disaster that many viruses can cause. It is essential that you make sure that your computer is always protected by investing in a good anti virus program. Dave Michaels writes on home and computer subjects.
